Daily Living

So,if formal church services are a challenge for me,one might ask how I worship God. Well, that is easy. Living a spiritual life means that everything I do is in praise of our creator. I start with the morning mantra that I shared with you in an earlier blog. At the end of the mantra, I also ask that every interaction I have with someone please be a healing. I believe that God is everywhere, including in me. So, I hope that I can share with each person I come in contact with, either face to face or on the phone, a little piece of God. My intention is to share a kind word or deed with each encounter. You know the saying, “Treat others the way you would want to be treated”. Sounds simple but this requires a conscious effort everyday. There are times when I am not feeling particularly pleasant. At those times, I just need to take a deep breath and really think before I speak. This can be especially hard with my children. Patience doesn’t come easy with teenagers! Interactions with others are not the only way I connect to spirit. Everything I do in a day is in praise of spirit - working, cooking and yes , even cleaning. It may sound silly, but I find when I make a conscious effort to live this way, I am happier.
Meditation is not something I do on a regular basis. I am embarrassed to admit it. I am a work in progress though, and I will not put myself down about it. I will continue to work at it. I know that if I meditated daily, my communication with spirit would improve immensely. Now that I have acknowledged this, I guess I better work on it. Perhaps you could share with me what has worked best for you.
I would appreciate your input.

  1. Every morning when I first get up (most mornings, I should say) I go tot he space that I have designated as my meditation space. I light a candle and sit. Even if I can only do it for a few minutes, I feel better. I ground myself, connect to spirit and just pay attention to my breathing. I say "in" when I breathe in and "out" when I breathet out. I say this silently to myself. When my mind wanders, which it will do, I go back to saying in and out without any judgement.
